Through intimate performances, Galatea musicians foster connection, reflection, and joy for older adults who may have limited access to live musical experiences.This program highlights music as a lifelong art form—one that supports emotional well-being, community engagement, and human connection at every stage of life.
New Wave is Galatea Chamber Music’s education-focused outreach program dedicated to inspiring and supporting the next generation of musicians. Through summer programming, school-based outreach, and scholarship support, New Wave expands access to high-quality chamber music education for young artists.The program serves students from diverse backgrounds, including homeschoolers and those attending schools without string or chamber music programs, removing barriers and opening pathways to advanced musical study.
At the heart of New Wave is New Wave Chamber Music Week, a summer program held each August in Virginia Beach, VA and North Bethesda, MD. During this immersive week, students rehearse and perform alongside our team of chamber musicians, gaining hands-on, collaborative experience in a supportive, intentional setting. Scholarships are available each year, ensuring that financial circumstances do not limit participation. For the past seven years, New Wave Chamber Music Week has helped shape young musicians by fostering artistry, collaboration, connection, and confidence.
Access to quality instruments is essential for student success. As part of the New Wave program, Galatea Chamber Music accepts donations of student-appropriate string instruments and bows, which are placed directly into the hands of young musicians who need them.
